Charlie And The Chocolate Factory And Edward Scissor hands:

The message portrayed in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory (CATCF) is to have patience as the moral of the story is to work hard and be patient as good will then come your way to have the key in success. The mise en scene shows the use of a golden ticket as a main prop, this symbolises the reward of patience and hard work to the films primary target audience of young children/pre-teens. The purpose of this is to send a good message through the film to teach good morals to the young audience as they are the next generation, and ironically those who do not follow the key of patience will go onto being either spoilt or impatient with attitude like the other children apart from Charlie in the film. Furthermore, the purpose of this is to scare other children from falling onto the path of being spoilt and impatient.

Tim Burton is an auteur director as he follows the same themes of gothic/horror/romance. These themes are also portrayed in CATCF and Edward Scissor Hands (ESH). In addition to this, both CATCF and ESH feature the popular and appealing actor Johnny Depp. Tim Burton also features him in around 8 of his movies in total. This would allow his movies featuring Johnny to appeal to the same targeted audience each time, whilst also promoting Johnny Depp as an actor as the promotion of the movies allows Johhny Depp to get more recognition and creates more recognition of Tim Burton himself as fans will then begin to relate Johnny Depp acting to Tim Burton as the director.
